A herd of horses and a team of humans.

What could they possibly have in common?

Horse herds have a complex social dynamics that utilize teamwork, cooperation and loyalty.

A strong herd has clearly delineated roles and responsibilities, yet its members are flexible enough to step in to a different position if needed.

In order for a herd to survive and thrive, a horse herd requires strong and consistent leadership along with predictable routines and responses.

Horses will only follow a leader that they can trust and respect.

The herd trusts that its leader will provide a means for survival via food, shelter and protection from predators, and sometimes, in order to protect the herd, the leader will send away a member who is undermining the survival of the others.

Members of a horse herd communicate with each other via verbal and non verbal cues, much as humans in the workplace do.

Horses instinctively maintain a healthy balance between work, play and rest.

Activities are specifically designed around the goals of your company. Team members learn ways to accomplish goals and solve problems with the horses, which easily translates to the workplace.

This team had to develop a clear strategy with small attainable goals in order to get the horse to go through the course.  When they encountered problems, they worked together to come up with out of the box solutions.
